Death Summoned Roachdale Woman

Mrs. Lucy Jane Edwards, 75, died at her home in Roachdale Saturday night. Her sudden death was attributed to heart trouble.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Putnam county, Feb. 10, 1868, the daughter of Elsberry and Hannah Phillips Conkrite; and spent her entire life in this county. She was married on Sept. 29, 1886 to Milton C. Edwards, who died several years ago.  

She was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Carl Brookshire of Roachdale and a grandson, Edwards Brookshire of Madison. Also surviving are two brothers, Albert Conkrite of Arkansas and Herbert Conkrite, Indianapolis.

Friends may call at the Chastain funeral home here, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 o’clock in charge of the Rev. O. J. McMullen. Burial will be in the Roachdale cemetery.

Lucy Jane Conkwright or Conkright, the daughter of Elsberry and Mary Conkright, b. Feb. 1868; d. 30 Oct. 1943 (Putnam Co. Death Book Q, page 82). She wed . 29 Sept. 1886 (Putnam Co. Marriage Book 7, page 485)Milton C. Edwards, son of Howard Marion (Dick) and Amanda Elizabeth (Goslin) Edwards.

Funeral services for Lucy Jane Edwards, 75, were held at Chastain funeral home Tuesday. Mrs. Edwards died Saturday at her home in Roachdale. She was a daughter of Elsberry and Hannah Phillips Conkrite. She married September 29, 1886 to Milton C. Edwards, who died several years ago. Burial was made in Roachdale cemetery. Survivors are a foster daughter; Mrs. Carl Brookshire, Roachdale, and Grandson Edward Brookshire of Madison, two children, Mabel and Ray are deceased. Other survivors are brothers; Albert Conkrite, Arkansas, ad Herbert Conkrite of Indianapolis.
